I was told by a doctor that Gatorade’s “G2” is an acceptable drink for people who suffer from Fructose Malabsorption. Which is only sort of true. The added sugar in G2 is sucralose which I don’t know too much about, but I feel like it’s best not to take chances.
This recipe is adapted from Kitchen Stewardship, and it was really easy to make. It tastes great but isn’t overpowering and it’ll be nice to have something to drink when I play tennis that isn’t lame, like water.
- 1 cup of water
- 1 1/2 cups of dextrose
- 1/2 cup of fresh lemon juice (about 3 lemons)
- 2 tablespoons of fresh lime juice (about 1/2 a lime)
- 1/2 teaspoon of sea salt
- 1/4 teaspoon of baking soda
- 6 cups of water
- Small sauce pan
- Juicer (I use my old-fashioned by-hand juicer)
- Large pitcher
Put the dextrose, salt, baking soda and 1 cup of water into the sauce pan over medium heat. Stir occasionally until dissolved.
Once the sugar, etc. is dissolved, pour that into the pitcher as well.
Add the remaining 6 cups of water and stir with a large spoon.
This should keep in the fridge for a week.
Elimination Diet safe: Yes!
